About Melbourne Soapworks

Melbourne Soapworks was established to offer handcrafted artisan soap bars as an alternative to the conventional detergent-based soaps found in the market.

Our soap's foundation consists of oils and water, saponified with Lye. During the saponification process, the Lye is completely utilised, resulting in a PH-neutral soap bar. We test the PH for every batch to guarantee that each bar is PH neutral.

The oils and butters used in our standard recipe include Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Cocoa Butter, Palm Kernel Oil, Shea Butter, and Castor Oil. All of our products are Vegan friendly, cruelty free and contain no Nut Oils.

Yes, we do use Palm Kernal Oil however only Australian sourced, Certified Sustainable Palm Kernal Oil is used in our products. Palm Kernal Oil adds to the stability, lather and hardness of our soap bars ensuring that your bar of soap has a nice lather, bubble and will last a reasonable amount of time when kept in a dry environment between uses.

In addition to Oils and Butters we also use Fragrance Oils, Essential Oils and colourings such as Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Activated Charcoal, clays and other natural pigments. All of these additives are skin safe however if you have any concerns regarding any of the ingredients listed please reach out via our contact page.

All of our ingredients are sourced within Australia, we like to limit our footprint were possible.
